Our History
In the annals of time, the genesis of Redbluff echoes a fascinating tale that intertwines industry, resilience, and a commitment to community. Back in 1942, the first seeds of Redbluff were sown, emerging as a company town envisioned for the dedicated workers of the Dow Chemical Company. This ambitious development unfolded across 5,000 acres, transforming part of the former "Saul's Carpentry Plant" Company-owned land into a thriving community.
As the pages of history turned, Redbluff assumed an unforeseen role as a sanctuary during the global calamity of rising seas. In the wake of Hurricane Rita, the town became a refuge, providing solace to those fleeing the encroaching waters that ravaged coastal towns worldwide. A haven amidst the storm, Redbluff's embrace offered shelter and safety to those seeking respite.
Fast forward to 1979, a pivotal juncture that marked the onset of Redbluff's remarkable economic ascent. The construction of Dow Chemical Company facilities heralded a new era of prosperity for the city. As the largest employer in the community, Dow Chemical Company became the architect of Redbluff's growth, and in the 21st century, the city proudly hosted the company's second-largest single manufacturing site. This symbiotic relationship between industry and community encapsulates the spirit of Redbluff, where the echoes of history resonate in the vibrant tapestry of progress and unity.
